While you may not think about it this way at first, blogging can be a very social activity. Of course, it doesn’t have to be – you can turn off comments (like some bloggers do), ignore emails, make yourself hard to reach, etc – but at that point you’re really just standing up on a soapbox without engaging in any dialogue with your readers and the larger blog community. To be honest, I haven’t spent much time interacting with other bloggers until recently. Arnel from Moneysoldiers.com sent me an introduction email with some good info and he has been a valuable resource ever since. I need to do more to reach out to other bloggers so I can build my network and benefit from the experience of others.
At my day job we are constantly bombarded with “networking opportunities” and events. I didn’t really think about it before, but the same effort has to go into my online relationships if I am to build a lasting brand and relationships. I have a lot of blogs that I read on a daily/weekly basis, but many of these are MASSIVE, so I’m not sure they’re the right ones to seek out to form a relationship. I need to do some exploration and find other newer bloggers who are at my same level/a little above my level. This way we will be able to discuss the issues we are facing and help each other when things go bad.
My wife sent me a post from GRS (getrichslowly.org) a couple of days ago that really helps to kick me in the ass to get going and put more effort into my online ventures. I’ve been pretty stagnant recently, just assuming that posting 2x per week and doing some other limited work will be enough to get things moving – but it’s clearly not enough! I’m not sure if a wedding linen and handkerchief site is the way to go for me, but I need to do something more than I’m doing now.

I’ve been spending time submitting my blog to different sites so that hopefully they get seen by more people. If you can think of good places to submit to, please let me know in the comments below!
